Synopsis

“Sons of Greece” is a twelve-hour performance divided into three sections. Following the model of the ancient Dionysians and the Baroque Festivals, the doors of the Corral de Comedias of Alcalá de Henares will be open from morning to night to explore the tragic Greek world from the eyes, bodies, experiences and desires of the company [los números imaginarios]. In their fourth immersive show (the previous one was “The Last Night of Don Juan”, performed at Clásicos en Alcalá 2017) they mix texts from the written and oral tradition of classical repertoire for their contemporary update, reflecting on the experience of theatre as a rite. Without interpreting the "tragic heroes" but the "sons of...” the ensemble led by Carlos Tuñón and Gon Ramos raises several questions: What do the words "tragedy", "sacrifice" and "truth" mean today? What to do with the legacy we have received? How to reinterpret the memory? Is our tragedy legitimate? Does our life have a common origin with the great Greek stories?

from this cliff

I speak to you,

to you who

are inside me"
